For those of you who love the best of children’s and young adult literature, chances are you’ve come across that phenomenon known worldwide as Harry Potter.  The Hat and the Sword grew out of my love for and fascination with J.K. Rowling’s fantastic series, but suffice it to say that others do not see the boy wizard in the same light.  Now that the series has ended, we can officially study and discuss the Harry Potter series as a collective work–whether through each individual volume or the entire series as a whole–both in and out of a children’s literature context.  From the books to the movies to the fanfics and beyond, this is where we can learn more about Rowling’s magical world and its significance in our own.
